We Are Hiring: Interior Designer

Thibodeau Architecture + Design (Vancouver location) is looking for a full-time creative, motivated, and experienced Interior Designer in the field of corporate offices and commercial design with 3+ years of Canadian experience in an interior design and/or architectural office.

Our stimulating team specialises in workspaces, institutional, asset maintenance, and renovation (commercial) projects across Canada. We have designed workspaces for clients such as McKesson, Bell Canada, Shaw Communications, and many others. We have completed rollouts for Lululemon and Nespresso and currently, we are working on the Interiors and Furniture Selection for LaSalle College Vancouver. We are looking for a highly collaborative person with impeccable work ethics and a strong willingness to learn to join us in our daily endeavours. The Ideal Candidate is self-motivated, analytical, detail-oriented, and takes initiative with proven capabilities in multi-tasking, problem-solving and prioritizing workloads, as well as attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, complete, and legible drawings. In your role you will be:

  • Exploring innovative design solutions as part of the creative process
  • Participating in the realization of spatial and conceptual planning studies
  • Undertaking the selection of furniture and finishes for projects
  • Producing design drawings from concept through contract documents
  • Preparing specifications and various tender documentation
  • Assisting with contract and construction administration
  • Coordinating between suppliers, clients, contractors, and consultants
  • Overseeing the in-house Material Library and relationship with suppliers
  • Preparing graphic, conceptual (2D, 3D) and marketing presentations
  • Learning, growing, and developing professionally with the support of your peers within the firm.

Qualifications:

  • Interior Design Degree/Diploma (from an accredited school)
  • 3+ years Interior Design industry experience with diverse project types (commercial and/or institutional projects are preferred)
  • Experience in conception, space planning, drafting, construction detailing, production of construction documents, including specifications
  • Experience in programming, planning principles, materials, and furnishings
  • Has obtained or is working towards NCIDQ registration
  • Practical knowledge of construction (steel, wood-frame, etc.) & strong ability to detail various building components
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and other related space planning/rendering programs
  • Knowledge of & ability to navigate the VBBL, NBCC and BCBC
  • High proficiency with MS Word, MS Excel, and Outlook (used daily)
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English (French is an asset)
  • Background in Architectural Technology is an asset
  • Other professional affiliations and designations are an asset (WELL, LEED, IDIBC, etc.)
