Tristan

Tristan felt the need to modernize the image of his stores towards the end of 2010 and so they came to seek help to develop and implement their new concept, a design inspired by Tristan's image : modern, comfortable and ecological. Two stores in Quebec City, including their Sainte-Foy flagship store, were in the process of being renovated simultaneously in the spring. A new store, that of the Galeries de la Capitale, was to be designed in 2011.

The first objective of the new concept was to create a more welcoming space and to instill in the store a feeling of conviviality. Tristan also wanted to highlight some of his core values: the support of local talent and artisans as well as environmentally conscious choices. In close collaboration with the Tristan team, we have developed a bright space where the barrier between the customer and the store has been removed, thanks to custom podiums positioned at the entrance of the store, eliminating the need for windows. The podiums, with their integrated benches, invite customers to take ownership of the displays by becoming an integral part of them. Podiums are also placed throughout the store to keep the same energy everywhere, creating a unique shopping experience.

Among the high-quality wood supplied by DAVA, a local environmentally friendly company that recovers logs that are rejected by commercial sawmills, we have opted for hickory wood, rarely used in Quebec, which combines nuances of honey and caramel to create a warm and poetic atmosphere:look and feel. We used this wood in various applications throughout the project: for the treatment of accent walls, furniture carpentry, podiums scattered in the stores and parquet to delimit the different sections. We used V-shaped inlays to recall this well-known weaving widely used in the textile and clothing industry. The store also presents the work of local painter Bruno Gérard, who uses all recycled materials for his creations.
