Place Ste-Foy, Quebec City – 2011
Tristan was ready to change its image... to modernise it and to make it younger, while staying true to its loyal clientele. And so at the end of the year 2010, Tristan came to TAD to help them develop their new concept.
The task at hand was not small. Two stores were going to get renovated at the same time in the spring, in Québec city. One of these stores, Sainte-Foy, was their flagship store. The bar was thus set pretty high!
One of the first goal of of the new concept was to make the space more inviting... and the second was to create a sense of conviviality throughout the store. Tristan wanted also to put forth some of its own values, which are the support
of local talent and local artisans as well as its concern for environmentally conscious choices.
We developped closely with the Tristan team, a luminous space, where the barrier between customer and store was eliminated by the fact that a podium now stands at the entrance of the store, eliminating the need for display windows. Instead, the mannequins take life in front of the customer, and the benches intergrated to the podium invite
them to tale ownership of the display... to be part of them. These podiums are also placced throught the store and help dynimise the space.
Environmentally speaking, we have worked with DAVA, a
local enterprise that recuperates noble wood rejected by commercial sawmills. And the work of local lamp artist Bruno Gérard can be found throught the store, one of its lamp s being
displayed in the store and the rest of the Tristan collection being showcased on prints.
