VIA RAILMontreal, Quebec – 2009VIA Rail Canada operates the national passenger rail service on behalf of the Government of Canada. An independent Crown Corporation established in 1977, the company provides Canadians with safe, efficient and environmentally responsible public transportation. As part of their national installations revitalization project, Via Rail Canada has mandated TAD to revitalize Montreal’s Central Station railway infrastructures, located at 895, de la Gauchetière West. Built in the 1940s, the train station today has a somewhat dark and dilapidated image. Classified as a historical building in the 1990s, the greatest challenge this project presents is responding to the client’s needs while respecting Heritage Canada’s requirements. The project’s objectives are varied; our clients are seeking to improve the ambiance, functionality, security and enjoyableness of the railway platforms. In fact, a more pleasant aesthetic image, a better client experience, a more fluid circulation, new lighting and more efficient signage are some of the key points that are being taken into account during the design of this project.
