McGill University – Leacock Building Classroom 219

Montreal, Quebec – 2010

Auditorium 219 of McGill University's Leacock Building was entirely renovated in 2010, before the school year began. New seats and new finishes were selected and new lighting and audio-visual systems were provided in order for the room to be more suited to the needs of students and professors. TAD has designed a colorful place where students could benefit from the technologies. The rooms is equiped with a new table of projections controlled by a costum made desk designed specifically for the needs of teachers. In addition, the renovations had to improve the classroom to meet new building code standards in terms of accessibility for disabled people.

Complexity and solutions:

- Classroom planning where technology plays a central role.
- Custom furniture design incorporating various management tools for audio and visual projections.
- Study and validation of the new seating system with removable shelf for laptops, so that it meets the building code requirements.
- Completion of the project within a tight schedule due to the school calendar.

Results: a functional and colorful auditorium, meeting the needs of students and professors.
