Notptini

Nominingue, Quebec

Situated on the eastern banks of Great Lake Nonminingue, Notptini is a week-end retreat with exterior clean lines designed to blend in gently in the surrounding nature. The exterior’s grey stained pine and cedar cladding and white framed windows harmonize with the maple and white birch that envelops the house’s perimeter. Terraces and raised foot bridges free up the underlying landscape to the benefit of flora and fauna.

The 2,000 square foot interior is split on two open floors providing an unobstructed view to the exterior, the trees, the lake and the sky. The ground floor living space provides a unique environment for food preparation, reading, playing and even share a spa!

The home was designed using current sustainable design features such as selecting local and durable materials including granite, black cherry, and eastern white cedar; sitting at an angle creates an expanded lake view whilst providing increased passive solar heat. The exposed rock outcrop underneath the open staircase is an acknowledgement of the intent of living in deference to our environment.
