Bell Vancouver Offices
at Bentall 5

  • IDIBC 2005 - Gold Award - Office-Total
  • IDIBC 2005 - Gold Award - Environmental

In early 2005, Bell moved its executive offices and sales force to the sixth floor of Bentall 5 in downtown Vancouver. The mandate was to develop a unique open workspace that fosters interaction and encourages collaboration between the various subsidiaries of Bell.

The theatre model was adopted in the early stages of the design. A "Front of House" was created for demonstrating products and services while the "Back of House" was designed for Bell’s Sales Force. Complementing this model is the underlying theme of “A Walk through the Park”, a nod to the West Coast’s enveloping natural beauty through the use of environmental friendly materials and concepts: wood, cork, PET panels as well as visual openness.

The 15 000 square foot space includes 70 work stations along the fully glazed exterior walls; 15 closed offices and 3 meeting rooms clustered around the core that are built with a prefabricated glazed wall system; a handful of conference rooms and a kitchen environment/eating area. At the front, a Customer Demonstration Theater and Centre allows visitors to familiarize themselves with Bell’s new products interactively.

Custom made display fixtures, architectural millwork, and privacy screens were designed by TAD to reinforce Bell’s image as a cutting-edge communications company. Throughout the project, the latest technology was introduced to support audio-visual presentations including Tandberg Video-Conferencing Systems and VoIP phones.

"Cutting edge showing what the company represents. Unusual elements and interesting lighting; Wave panels hiding the lighting are effective; open signage innovative. Good space planning. Good integration of curves."
