BIM or Building Information Modeling by REVIT

In recent years, a new computer modeling software has emerged in the field of architecture and design. In 2011, Thibodeau Architecture + Design has taken the plunge by purchasing this software called REVIT, and by offering a comlete training to its employees in collaboration with Procad Consultants, a trainer recognized by Autodesk. Revit was created for building information modeling, which makes it a usefull tool in architecture and design.

But what is it?

The Building Information Modeling (BIM) is an intelligent modeling process that tracks the evolution of a project in real time and can compile information from all disciplines in a single model. In other words, projects built in Revit evolve as a 3D model from which quantitative data (such as land, quantities of materials, parts, etc..) and views (plans , sections, perspectives) can be extracted at any moment.

REVIT offers several advantages as much for the client, as for the architect, and the contractor as it alows to be more efficient and accurate in the production of construction drawings and to perform the analysis and retrieval of a wealth of information quickly.

BIM enables to:
- perform quick and more accurate estimates;
- perform adjustments to the architectural program at the client's request;
- helps predict potential conflicts prior to the construction phase, and thus to minimize the unexpected additional cost;
- generate 3D views of space and details, which can greatly help in understanding certain elements of construction;
- generate 3D views of space, and even videos to help a better visualization of spaces;
- obtain complete schedules more efficiently.

Thibodeau Architecture + Design is always seeking to provide the highest quality of services to all its customers.
